Weekly Session Protocol
WEEKLY Session Protocol
(For leading a team through a Life Mastery 1 session)
(For leading a team through a Life Mastery 1 session)
ALL weekly sessions require the Team Leader to take the following steps (it is recommended that you copy and past this protocol onto your weekly team calendar or onto a document, and keep it handy for each session so you can follow along as you go).
1. Get on the call 1 or 2 minutes early (try to be the first one on the call as it sets an example for the others to be prompt, and it demonstrates your commitment to them)
2. Have rollcall within the first two or so minutes.
3. If Participants are missing, find out who their Team Partner was, and ask the Team Partner if they had said whether or not they would be on the call. If they had said ‘yes, they would be on the call’, ask the Team Partner to excuse themselves for a moment and call the person to remind them of the call.
4. As soon as you have 50% of your Participants on the call (or by no later than 5 minutes after the hour), excuse yourself and start the recording (instructions for starting the recording are provided when you apply for your Conference Call number… many systems use *9 to start the recording). (If you are not the 'official' Team Leader, you will ask that person to start the recording.)
5. After you start the recording, announce the date (such as Nov 24, 2015), the session number for that week (such as Session #1), and the session title (Such as “Support Systems”)
6. Share opening comments or announcements (if you have any). This is the point where you Team Leader will share his or her additional comments.
7. Ask who would like to first share their ‘stories & experiences’ from the past weeks’ Lessons & Assignments (Ask them to include anything they got out of their coaching call with either their Team Partner and / or their Team Leader, and what they got out of the Lessons & Assignments… include challenges and lessons they’ve learned)
8. After they have shared, thank and acknowledge the Participant for sharing, then paraphrase their main points, or summarize the lessons and insights they appear to have gained.
9. Encourage others to comment on what they’ve heard, and if the Participant mentions a challenge they have not yet resolved, ask the team to help them find something ‘great’ about their challenge or obstacle, or to look for ways of using other Lessons they’ve been learning to help address the challenge.
10. Watch the time, making sure everyone has a chance to share. If someone appears to be taking too long to share, gently thank them for sharing, and ask if you can come back to them later in the session (if there is still time) once everyone else has had a chance to share (in order to make sure they all have time to do so).
11. Do your best to encourage everyone on the team to share, but don’t force them.
12. After everyone has share, you then share (you may be the first to share if no one else steps up). Make sure you come to each session with at least 1 great story that clearly demonstrates one or several of the lessons from that weeks’ session.
13. Ask if there are any last thoughts.
14. Ask them to choose a Team Partner for the week.
15. Remind them to call their Team Partner the day before next week’s Team Call, and to find out if they will be on the call.
16. Remind them to read their next Lesson before going to bed that night.
17. Remind them to email their Weekly Goal Guide & Date to you the day before your next week’s 1-on-1 Coaching Call (IF they want to have that call).
18. Thank them for being on the call
